About Us
The principals of Gershon, Willoughby, Getz & Smith, LLC have combined the practices of law and medicine, the two disciplines necessary to evaluate the complexities of medical malpractice, specifically as it relates to Cerebral palsy. As a result we can analyze your medical history, prenatal and delivery records and determine what caused your child's cerebral palsy.
We started our careers as medical students and worked our way through rotations in obstetrics where we assisted in labors and deliveries. We were exposed to fetal monitor tracings and saw first-hand when potential birth complications were developing. Our training included watching and learning how experienced attending physicians and their staffs dealt with the onset of developmental delay and cerebral palsy. Internships and residencies in pediatrics, radiology, and neurology taught us to diagnose the symptoms of a baby with potential identifiable cerebral palsy difficulties as opposed to a normal developing fetus and baby.
Following our medical training and specialization, the next stage involved the study and practice of law where we specialized in birth trauma cases.
The cumulative effect of combining medicine and law has qualified us to thoroughly analyze the prenatal care you received during pregnancy, labor and birth, as well as the crucial days and weeks of your child's life following birth. We are qualified to determine if and at what point your child's cerebral palsy resulted from an injury at birth, a missed or mistaken or delayed diagnosis, or other medical malpractice. This experience and knowledge enable us to anticipate how the expert witnesses will evaluate the medical records. Generally we can evaluate the merits of a case within 24 hours of receiving your medical records which will save you anxiety and the uncertainty of not knowing how to proceed in your efforts to strive for a better quality of life for your cerebral palsy child.
